COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in Schools

Under the direction of the Ministry of Health, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) will offer COVID-19 vaccination clinics in schools to protect students and those around them. Clinics offering first and second doses will be held as soon as possible and will be open to students born in 2009 or before and their families, as well as educators and school staff.

To be eligible, individuals must turn 12 or older in 2021; and, for a second dose, a minimum of 21 days must have passed since the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine or 28 days since the first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Those aged 17 and under who qualify for the vaccine will only be offered the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for both doses.

The EOHU is working in partnership with local school boards and schools to disseminate the necessary information to parents and guardians.

Hepatitis B, HPV and Meningococcal Disease Immunization Clinics in Schools

During a typical school year, school-based clinics are held for students in Grade 7, to provide immunization against Hepatitis B, HPV and meningococcal disease. Due to the pandemic, immunization of the following cohorts was suspended:

The EOHU is aiming to provide these immunizations to all three cohorts throughout the 2021-2022 school year, after school-based COVID-19 vaccination clinics have concluded.

Target COVID-19 Vaccination Rates

The EOHU continues to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to our population. We are well on our way to reaching our target COVID-19 vaccination rates. The vaccine is safe and provides excellent protection against getting or spreading COVID-19.
