WELCOME TO THIS NEW MONTH OF MARCH, EVERYBODY, SPRING IS IN THE AIR, AND IN MY STEP THESE DAYS! It is that time of year when migrating birds such as the Canadian geese, the red-breasted Robins and many others that will start returning from their Winter playgrounds.

Along with the multitude of crocuses and other early SPRING flowers that will be popping up their pretty, little faces to catch the warmth of the sun. Along with the leaves on the trees, the bushes and grass will all start colouring our Drab World here in Canada for yet another year. You can never hold back SPRING, is a title from a Tom Waits song.

Fashionably Marlene – The Holiday Season

It’s time to start thinking of putting away the Winter items and getting out our SPRING wear. Here is a cool and trend setter look for SPRING .. The “Back to school” look by wearing pleated skirts, along with striped blazers. But with some sporty elements: rugby tops, sporty polo shirts, and even an Oldie but Goodie, an off -white Varsity jacket. This year we are to forget the “Fashion Rules” and wear whatever “Floats Our Boats.” Don’t be SHY to throw together a BOHO look that will be oh so trendy, but comfy as well! Go ahead and Mix and Match whatever you have in your wardrobes. Why not throw on a delicate, lace dress with an anorak (a faux fur lined hooded jacket) over your shoulders to step up your “Fashion Look!” this season. Perhaps you could choose to wear a pair of boxing or other army- styled boots along with this New Look of yours.
When we are building our wardrobes, we shan’t forget to add a versatile “Trench Coat” that has lasted throughout time. Please stick to classic colours such as black, navy blue and beige for longevity. Another “Classic- look” to choose this year is by wearing Denim clothing or using it for accessories such as hats, bags or purses. It is a comfy, versatile and hardwearing material. Denim is and has always been in Style! FUN FACT: Ever since the 1500’s when it was first developed in Genoa, Italy.

Choose from a rainbow of shades like marshmallow- pink, sherbet- lemon, and pistachio- green for us to explore. To keep it interesting use exaggerated silhouettes along with edgy accessories. (I do love my accessories.) Tactile textures are IN like Flynn this year. Let your Fashion sense fly by using plums and tumbling fringes, slinky spaghetti straps and even metallic tassels. Another Fashion trend that won’t be for everyone, that will Open up eyes and even some mouths. The “undergarments” such as delicate bras and underwear are just too pretty to hide. They will be making an appearance through gauzy and sheer- materialed tops, pants, dresses and skirts. Think Winsome instead of X-rated. Do allow your minds be open to the New Fashion Trends This Year. Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Fashionable.!

Until Next Month,

Keep Smilin & Stylin!

Sincerely Yours,

Fashionably Marlene
