Hi there! I’m Stacey Case. Some of you may follow me on Facebook as the Pizza Freak, where I write about, yes, pizza. Cornwall Pizza specifically, but also pizza in general. I’m not a one trick pony though! I’ve worked in restaurants my whole life, being classically trained in the tourist town of Niagara On The Lake. I enjoy lowbrow populist restaurants maybe even more than high end, hoity toity restaurants. Take Lola’s Pub & Grub for example.
I moved to Cornwall in April 2022, into a house in Eamer’s Corners. My first drive ever down Pitt Street that first day, a Sunday, I saw a sign between 7th and 6th for Lola’s. I could tell it was a converted A&W because we had the same style buildings for them in the Niagara region where I grew up. I pulled in, grabbed a seat on the patio, and was served my first ever drink and a meal in Cornwall. What a terrific start! Home cooked food on their handwritten specials board is what they’re known for. Over the years I now know to stop in every second Friday for Sharon’s Stuffed Meatloaf, I’ve had incredible comfort food like beef Stroganoff with buttered egg noodles, these are the kinds of meals my own mother literally made, God bless her.
My last meal off of their specials board was BBQ ribs and chicken thighs, with a side of corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, for the measly price of $12. How are they making any money? Look at the picture – that’s a lot of food for twelve bucks. The ribs were huge and falling off the bone, the thighs were tender and juicy with a sweet BBQ glaze, I really love corn, and the mashed potatoes and gravy were >chef’s kiss< perfect. As you can see, I couldn’t even finish my plate. Leftovers rule! I’ve ordered almost everything off of their menu, but really it’s all about the specials. Such variety, and nothing is ever more than $14, with fish and chips going for just $9!

Lola’s is a gem in the city. They support the community doing fundraising drives, and have become a local destination for anyone needing a quick bite and a drink, served by some of the friendliest staff around. If you’ve never been, stop by during the day for a meal. You won’t be disappointed. The kitchen closes at 8 pm though, so don’t wait too long!
Lola’s 8.5/10 all day every day.
