As summer begins and weather becomes ideal once again, it’s time for restaurants to once again allow the residents of SD&G to soak in the sun as they eat their delicious food! In Cornwall and across SD&G as a whole, there are a large number of gorgeous and homey terraces that you can sit at while enjoying the area’s very best food. In this article, we will highlight some of these eateries.

Located right on the waterfront between downtown Cornwall and Summerstown, Blue Anchor is a legendary seafood eatery with an even more iconic terrace. At Blue Anchor, you can enjoy the delicious Lobster Roll or their renowned Fish and Chips right on the beautifully blue St. Lawrence River.

Sheep’s Head Bistro

Just a short drive from Blue Anchor and just off Purcell Road, Sheep’s Head Bistro provides fine dining that few places in the area can
replicate. The Sheep’s Head dinner menu is a mix of seafood and traditional dinner cuisine, meaning that you have the choice between a 10oz strip-loin steak or a delectable Lobster Linguini, all while enjoying the sun on a countryside road.

Perch & Paddle Pub

Driving down County Road 2, just past Cooper Marsh sits Perch and Paddle Pub, a restaurant with one of the most breathtaking
terrace views that the SD&G area has to offer. Situated on the St. Lawrence River right next to some of South Glengarry’s gorgeous marinas, Perch & Paddle is a great eatery where you can have classy cuisine with a delicious beverage.

South Glengarry Restaurant

Moving to Lancaster, we arrive at the very popular South Glengarry Restaurant. The terrace of this eatery is right in the heart of Lancaster’s homey downtown district, so you can take in the lovely small-town vibe of the area. At South Glengarry Restaurant, the staff is friendly, the portions are huge, and the steak-and-pepperoni sub is to die for.

Sheehan’s Pub & Pizza

Right across the street from the South Glengarry Restaurant, Lancaster gives us another fantastic location! The terrace at Sheehan’s is quaint, and it provides the perfect place to have a drink and enjoy some of SD&G’s famous pizza. If pizza’s not for you, the Sheehan’s menu is plentiful, including some delectable Calimari. After you’re done, you can go right next door in downtown Lancaster into Henderson’s Grocery.

North Glengarry Restaurant

Moving north into Alexandria, we arrive at the North Glengarry Restaurant. If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy delicious food on a patio outside of an old stone building, complete with amazing atmosphere and even a mini waterfall, then North Glengarry Restaurant is the one for you! StoneCrop Acres Winery All the way across SD&G in Morrisburg, StoneCrop Acres is one of the united counties’ most esteemed wineries,
serving such delicious wines as their crowd favourite Frigio-Riesling. At the StoneCrop physical location, you can have one of these many wines with a meal on their gorgeous terrace.

StoneCrop Acres Winery

All the way across SD&G in Morrisburg, StoneCrop Acres is one of the united counties’ most esteemed wineries, serving such delicious wines as their crowd favourite Frigio-Riesling. At the StoneCrop physical location, you can have one of these many wines with a meal on their gorgeous terrace.

McIntosh Inn

Staying in the South Dundas region, the Orchard Restaurant at McIntosh Inn has a gorgeous terrace where you can enjoy the quaint countryside nature of Morrisburg. From Beef Fajita Bowls to Cajun Chicken Tortellini and to a wide assortment of craft beers and other beverages, it seems like you can have it all at McIntosh Inn.

O’Neill’s Pub

Moving east to Long Sault, O’Neill’s is next on our list of legendary local spots with terraces. O’Neill’s offers delicious drinks and an assortment of wonderful food to choose from. Perhaps most famous on O’Neill’s menu, you can try their wings on the patio where the St. Lawrence River is visible.

Lost Villages Brewery

In Long Sault, Lost Villages Brewery has a terrace where you can enjoy the natural beauty of SD&G with one of their many delectable ales. The brewery also serves some delicious specialty drinks such as their raspberry sour. If you’re hungry, the brewery even has a neat snack menu!

Sol De Acapulco Restaurante

While we’re in South Stormont, I’d be wronging all of you if I didn’t mention the fantastic Mexican eatery, Sol De Acapulco. This location has one of the most beautiful terraces in the area, being on a countryside road opposite of the River. The restaurant is always lively, and I’d recommend that you try their life-changing Ceviche served with crackers.

Wing House (Cornwall)

Finally entering back into Cornwall, we start with Wing House’s Cornwall location off of Vincent Massey Dr. This restaurant is always popping, and with their over 150 wing flavours, as long as you like chicken, you’ll be able to find some flavour you’ll love. On the terrace, you can enjoy wings, a tasty beverage, and the Cornwall sun.

Casa Paolo

Continuing to go down Vincent Massey Dr. in Cornwall, we arrive at Casa Paolo, one of the city’s best authentic Italian restaurants. On their terrace, which almost gives off an old-school rustic vibe, you can enjoy some of their signature dishes, such as the Spaghetti Alla Bolognese or the Lobster Tail with Seafood Linguini.

Thum’s Kitchen

On Pitt, north of 15th street, Thum’s Kitchen has some of the best Thai food in all of SD&G. With fantastic curries and affordable daily specials, at Thum’s, you can enjoy the very best cuisine that Southeast Asia has to offer, all while taking in the beauty of north Cornwall.

Glengarrian Pub and Restaurant

Next on the list, the Glengarrian Pub and Restaurant typically sets up their terrace right outside the pub in the parking lot of the Tudor Centre every summer. At the Glengarrian, you can enjoy a lively environment, a delicious traditional Canadian menu, and, of course, tasty drinks surrounded by Cornwall’s bustling city environment.

La Maison Tavern

Just outside of Cornwall’s French Downtown is La Maison, right on Montreal Road. At La Maison, you can enjoy a delicious drink or some traditional bar foods like their delicious wings. Though the inside of La Maison is for partiers, you can enjoy the view of the college and the delicious beverages on their terrace.

Esca Gourmet Pizza + Bar

Arriving to our final region, downtown Cornwall, our first stop is Esca. At the Esca terrace, you can enjoy classy fine dining right across from Cornwall City Hall in the city’s bustling downtown district.

Schnitzels

Drawing from European influence, Schnitzels is one of the most unique restaurants that Cornwall has to offer. With a gorgeous terrace right in the centre of the city’s downtown core, you can have one of Schnitzels’ many delicious pizzas while soaking in the Cornwall sun – and the best part is you’re just a short walk from so many local businesses!

Spinners Diner

I’d be lying if I didn’t mention that Spinners is a personal favourite. These days, I must be going there once a week. At Spinners, you can have traditional diner food – both breakfast and lunch. On their terrace, you’re situated right in the middle of downtown Cornwall, just an extremely short walk from Kids Korner, Bud’s Records, and Melody Music – it’s good fun for the whole family!

Mexi’s

Our last stop on this long trip brings us to Mexi’s, where the nachos are delicious and the atmosphere is bustling. On the Mexi’s terrace, which is a roadside pop-up during the summer, you can enjoy some tasty Mexican food, original cocktails, and the beauty of downtown Cornwall. Just a short walk from the mall and Lamoureux Park, Mexi’s reminds us of all the best that Cornwall has to offer.
