Cornwall Ontario – Lightning strikes twice for Tony Luis, who has improved his record to 24-3 and after giving Cam O’Connell his first defeat by winning the NABA Lightweight Championship Saturday night in front of over 3000 people at the Civic Complex. It’s his second consecutive win at home in as many months.

In a post interview with The Seeker, Tony Luis says he is happy with the victory.

“I’m happy with the win. The jab worked perfectly. My speed dictated the pace all night”.

The judges unanimously agreed. It was Tony’s night.

“The only curveball was I wanted to do more work inside but he (Cam) was more awkward then I thought inside. And dirty, holding and butting,” Luis explained.

The new lightweight champion takes this as a positive learning experience.

“But those are things I will learn from and adapt to for the future,” Luis stated.

The victory gives Tony Luis a higher ranking and puts him back into title contention.

“But this title was what I needed to put me into title contention again. It puts me in the Top 10 or top 15 again at the very least,” Luis concluded.
