  1. I worked for Bob Turner as a playground supervisor in Colborne and for a summer in Cornwall. I have never worked for anyone I admired more. Many of us were very upset when some of the narrow minded people couldn’t get past the colour of his skin. They had no idea what a treasure a town of 1500 people had.

    1. So nice to read this Arlis.
I was 8 when the Turner family arrived.
A gift that many of that generation still speak about today.
From 8-12, all those young boys of my age, were provided with a tremendous city-wide recreation program, where diamonds, rinks & football fields were there, created and managed for our good health & friendship development. Bob Turner was strong on that. No fighting!
The most important gift he allowed every youth to develop, that comes into our being, sometime & somehow. Either way, it’s ugly. That would be RACISM.
In our case, everything about our situation was GREAT. Sure, a bit different when Mr Turner 1st appeared in our lives but very soon after, we were better kids from the day before, each time he was with us.
      Cornwall. Great town- Great people.
The Turner Family & Cornwall. Made 4 Each Other.
