As Daffodil Month draws to a close, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) announces a significant opportunity for Canadians to unite in the fight against cancer. From April 17th to April 30th, every donation made to CCS will be matched by an anonymous partner, promising to double the impact of each contribution towards cancer research and support services.

Held annually during Cancer Awareness Month in April, Daffodil Month has been CCS’s flagship fundraising initiative for over 65 years. This period mobilizes communities across Canada to support those affected by cancer, raising funds that are critical in advancing research and services. Last year, CCS invested a remarkable $50.1 million into high-impact research projects and innovative approaches that are pivotal in improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

Jane Parsons, Executive Vice President of Revenue Development at CCS, emphasized the transformative power of research in combating cancer. “Research is our strongest tool against the devastating impact of cancer,” said Parsons. “With nearly half of Canadians expected to be diagnosed in their lifetimes, it’s crucial to support the work that enhances our understanding and management of this disease.”

The funds raised during this year’s Daffodil Month will not only support leading researchers but also bolster a nationwide support network for those at various stages of their cancer journey. These resources are vital in offering guidance, comfort, and advocacy for healthier public policies that aim to prevent cancer and better support those living with it.

Parsons added a call to action for all Canadians considering a charitable donation: “If you’ve ever thought of supporting the cancer cause, this is the time. Your donation will have double the impact, changing the future of cancer forever.”

Those interested in contributing to this cause and having their donations matched can visit cancer.ca/daffodil or call 1-888-939-3333 to make a difference. As Daffodil Month concludes, this matching initiative provides a unique chance for donors to make their support go further, helping fuel the research and services that are crucial in the fight against cancer.
